Heirloom Jewellery and Tiaras are constructed around a vintage or antique piece of jewellery...these are 'upcycled' and made into something unique and amazing for today's bride. These pieces are limited to the vagaries of availability and condition of old pieces of jewellery, many of which are a once in a lifetime find...this means that the probability is that this piece can never be repeated.

Heirloom Comb; sometimes when I make a piece of heirloom jewellery, the original
'donor' piece sits around for a while whilst I think about what its is going to
be.
This particular piece of jewellery challenged me for four years before
I did anything with the original 1950's brooch because it was such an unusual
shape...it comprised a gold plated brass filigree casting set with six silver
foiled crystal stones in peridot colour - probably Swarovski; and somehow, it
just was not interesting enough for inclusion in anything.
Eventually
I decided on embellishing the vintage piece before the process of making it into
a piece of jewellery - so using goldplated wire I carefully wired in lots and
lots of fresh Swarovski and gold-lined rocailles alongside the original claw-set
crystal, in a range of blues, golds and greens...and it looked so right.
I added sprays of handmade silver lined Murano glass, Swarovski crystal, Czech
glass leaves and rocailles on goldtone wire and finished the whole comb off with
matte/frosted blue-green rocailles across the band of the comb.
This looks
gorgeous nestled in the hair.
The comb measures approx. 3.25 inches
/8cm across.
